Demolition was complete at the old library building (shown above) on Feb. 9, 2018. Most of the exterior walls, ceiling trusses, roof decking, and a complete slab remain. The majority of the limestone face and some windows also remain.
As of Feb. 16, 2018, the first phase of demolition for the project is complete. (The former GCAT or new Municipal Court/Council Chambers is shown above.) The demolition subcontractor will return at a later date to complete the minor demolition that remains, such as the entire face of the old GCAT building.
Site utilities are complete for Council Chambers. Site utilities are 40 percent complete for City Hall.
Balfour Beatty is grading the parking lot to the west of Council Chambers to pour the new concrete lot in the next few weeks. They are also grading to pour new sidewalk along West and 10th streets.
Earthwork continues and the new green space between City hall and Council Chambers is starting to take shape.
At the same time, the foundation prep for City Hall expansion is underway.
